    As we approach the 78th Masters, I am amazed at how this major sporting event gets bigger and bigger with each passing year.   The production and presentation of this world wide event is second to none.  From the opening tee shots of golf legends to the final putt of a new champion, this event delivers non-stop drama, memories, and satisfaction.  With this in mind, let’s take a look at how the Masters can teach us lessons on selling your house. 

    Sell In Spring

    Nothing says spring is here like the Masters.  There’s something about spring that gets people motivated to take action.  The weather is warmer, people have been cooped up all winter and they want to get out.  When they get out they see open houses.  When they see open houses they buy houses.  Well it’s not that simple, but it definitely is an environment conducive for selling.  When selling a home and if possible try selling your home during this time of year.  Many areas of the country see a spike in home sales during this time of year. 

    Attention to Detail

    If you ever talk with anyone that’s been to Augusta National, where the Masters is played, they will tell you it is like heaven on earth.  Every little blade of grass is where it’s supposed to be, the facilities are out of this world, and the course itself has been carefully manicured for months by hundreds of highly skilled employees.  When selling your home, it should be no different.  Pay attention to the details of your house.  Are there walls that need painting? Trim that needs refreshed? Or perhaps light fixtures that need updating.  Do the little things and it can pay huge dividends when it comes time for selling.

    Make It a Big Event

    The Masters is a worldwide event as we mentioned earlier.  Even if you aren’t a golf fan or follow the sport, you know what the Masters is.  As with selling your home, make it a big event.  Hold an open house and tie it to a fundraiser or some other local event that will attract more buyers.   This is a good way to market your house and let as many people as possible view it.

    One of the focal points of Augusta National is the landscaping.  Have you seen their Azaleas?  They are breath taking.  Turn on the tournament this year and watch for hole #12.  You will be blown away by the beauty of that place.  But who’s to say you can’t have breath taking scenery of your own?  Adding lots of flowers, bushes, and shrubs will give your property a full and mature appearance which will only boost your home’s appeal to buyers.
