Christmastime is upon us and hopefully your home is filled with Christmas spirit! If you like to change up your décor every year you may be looking for some new and fresh ideas for your mantel. Whether you’re a fan of a classic mantel or want to try something a little eclectic this year, we’ve got 10 great ideas for you:
Bring the outdoors inside. Find pinecones and greenery (think magnolia tree leaves or extra tree limbs you’ve cut off of your tree) and line them on your mantel. Small branches stuck in mason jars will provide some height to your arrangement.
Stick with metals. Silver, gold and even brass are all hot metallics right now! Pick silver and decorate with silver flocked trees, silver garland and silver balls nestled in the garland or incorporate all the metallics to create a display that will really pop!
Go monochromatic. If you’re ever unsure of your ability to pick coordinating colors, why not just stick with the same color this year?! Different shades of blues, silvers and whites/creams will make a beautiful eye-catching display on your mantel.
Stay traditional. If you love classic décor, stick with classic red and green knit stockings hung from the mantel along with simple greenery, candles or hurricane globes on each end and a wreath hung on the wall above.
Bring back the past. Frame all of your old Christmas cards and/or photos with Santa and line them up in order on your mantel. Guests at your home will love walking down memory lane with you.
Get wrapping. Wrap faux presents and stack them up on top of the mantel to create an inexpensive and colorful display. Or stack up real presents if you’ve already got some small ones under the tree!
Bring in the light. For a simple but mesmerizing display, collect various candles of different sizes and heights to line along the mantel. Once lit, they’ll create a beautiful focal point in your room.
Count down to Christmas. Find 25 miniature stockings to hang and fill with small treats to count down to Christmas Day. They’ll fill your mantel space while also being a fun surprise for kids of all ages!
Be sweet. Create a fun and whimsical candy-themed mantel by using large lollipops, candy canes and bright colored balls and candy to line your mantel. Plus you won’t have to store this year’s decorations; you can just eat them!
Spell it out. Buy wood craft letters and paint them to match your décor. You can spell out a variety of Christmas words – JOY, NOEL and HOPE just to name a few – and then set them atop your mantel for the season.
What’s your favorite way to decorate the mantel? Do you decorate the same each year or do you like to change it up from time to time?
